Jackie Bishop

 

Jackie Bishop, age 75, of Sunfield, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005
at 6:35 a.m. in the Intensive Care Unit of the Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
	Jackie was born on July 6, 1929 in Du Quoin, a son to Jack and Addie
(Lemmons) Bishop. He was united in marriage to Betty L. Huth on November 4,
1949 in Arkansas and together they shared more that 55 years of happiness,
she survives.  Jackie was a veteran who served in the Army overseas during
the Korean Conflict.  He worked several jobs during his career, including
the Du Quoin Packing Company, and retiring from his last job as an
electrician at Arch of Illinois' Captain Mine in 1990.
	Jackie was a member of UMWA Local 1392, a member of the Masonic Lodge of
Du Quoin for over 50 years and a lifetime member of the Sunfield Methodist
Church and attended services there faithfully.  He was a loving husband,
father and friend to a large number of people and will be greatly missed by
all.  He spent his retirement years pursuing his hobbies of fishing, camping
and gardening.
	In his passing Jackie leaves his wife: Betty of Sunfield, two sons and
daughter-in-laws: Douglas and Cynthia Bishop of Sunfield, and Donald and
Kendra Bishop of Herrin, two grandsons: John F. Bishop and Stephen D.
Bishop, grandson-in-law and granddaughter: Shawn and Jaci Lynn Brown with
great-granddaughter: Isabella Shalynn, and granddaughter: Stephanie Bishop,
one sister: Minnie Heape of rural Du Quoin, as well as may loving friends.
	He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Archie, and three
sisters: Esther Rainwater, Bernice Bailey and Margaret Davis.
	Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.
in Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home, Du Quoin with Pastor Dennis Goforth
officiating with help from retired Pastor Jerry Dunn.  Interment will be in
Sunset Memorial Park.
	Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home, Du Quoin on
Tuesday, February 8, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on
Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
	Memorials may be made to Sunfield United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
